Summer means fruit! While you can get berries year-round, I don't recommend it. Berries in the winter are crazy expensive, so I try to use them to their fullest during the summer months. I bought some blackberries for a specific recipe (not this one, lol) and then decided to use them again in a custom creation.
I can't take credit for naming this one. I asked my husband for his input, and this was his first suggestion. I already have a penchant for naming drinks after movies and songs, so naming one after a book title made sense. Obviously it's a play on the original book title though.
Blackberry Finn
2 oz. Woodford Reserve rye whiskey
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz. Boozy Botanicals Rosemary Mint syrup
4 blackberries + garnish
fresh mint + garnish
Gently muddle several mint leaves and four blackberries in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the whiskey, lemon juice, and syrup. Fill shaker 3/4 full of ice. Shake to chill, then double-strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a blackberry on a cocktail skewer.
