Wrapping up fig week with another whiskey cocktail, but instead of Black Mission figs, I've used green figs. I'll be honest with you, I don't know exactly which variety of figs these were. We got them in our farm box and they weren't identified. When I Googled around to try to identify them, there were multiple types of green figs that looked the same. So if you want to make this, just use any green figs you can find!
Gettin' Figgy with It
2 oz. Basil Hayden's Bourbon
3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz. honey syrup
2 dashes The Bitter Housewife Cardamom bitters
2 green figs
Slice figs in half lengthwise. Place 3 fig halves in the bottom of a shaker with the lemon juice. Muddle until the figs are crushed. Add remaining ingredients and fill shaker 3/4 full with ice. Shake 30 second, then double-strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a coupe glass. Garnish with remaining fig half.
To make honey syrup, mix equal parts honey and warm water. Stir to dissolve honey.
