If you're anything like me, you try to avoid processed foods as much as possible. I love shrimp cocktail, but I don't love buying pre-made cocktail sauce because it's likely to contain a bunch of stuff I don't really want, like corn syrup and preservatives. So when a new client reached out about photographing their Bloody Mary mix, I got excited about making a homemade cocktail sauce with it.
Circle B Ranch is based in Kansas, City, MO. Their Bloody Mary mix is made from real tomatoes, with no gluten or corn syrup. It makes a mean Bloody Mary, but it's also the key ingredient in this cocktail sauce recipe. The mix by itself is already spice, but I kicked it up a notch by adding additional spiciness. Note: this sauce is on the thin side, but you can add additional horseradish and ketchup to thicken it as desired.
CIRCLE B COCKTAIL SAUCE
1 1/2 cups Circle B Spicy Bloody Mary mix
1/4 cup Heinz ketchup
2 teaspoons Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Makes approximately 2 cups.
You can find Circle B Bloody Mary mix on their website. Fun fact: they also sell bacon and jerky sticks, so stock up on those while you're there!
