Looking for a fun brunch cocktail for Mother's Day? I got you covered! I created this white wine sangria for one of my clients, local West Sacramento winery, Baker Family Wines. You only need an a few ingredients and a bunch of fruit, and you're on your way to a refreshing treat for mom (or for yourself)!
MOTHER'S DAY SANGRIA
4 oz. chilled crisp white wine (I used Baker's Albariño)
1/2 oz. brandy (or sherry or Cognac)
1/4 oz. orange curaçao (or any other orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Grand Marnier)
6 oz. Q Tonic club soda (well-chilled)
Fresh citrus and berries
Slice a lemon, lime, and blood or navel orange. Slice a strawberry. Rinse a few raspberries and blackberries. Add fruit to a wine glass or goblet. Add remaining ingredients, ending with the club soda. Stir gently.
Serve with Belgian waffles and fresh fruit for a breakfast your mom (or wife) won't forget.
To make a full pitcher of sangria, use 1 whole bottle of wine, 3 ounces of brandy, and 1 1/2 ounces of orange liqueur. Combine those three ingredients with the fruit and chill. Pour into a wine glass just before serving, and top off individual glasses with club soda so it doesn't go flat.
Happy Mother's Day to my mom and all the other moms out there!
